Last month, Meteorologist Ron Trotta and moi were the official weather team for the National Science Teachers Association Conference in Chicago. Quite an honor for a 4 pound pooch!  We met lots of science teachers, STEM specialists, and even top dog & Secretary of Education, Mr Arnie Duncan. My tail is wagging that I was part of this pawsome science extravaganza! Arf-Arf!

Meteorologist Ron and I did a series of weather pawcasts for Chicago leading up to the NSTA conference.  Seems the weather is so important for making travel plans and knowing what to pack. Being a pack animal, I get that.  BOL!

On the road again pawcasting the weather. Willie Nelson eat your heart out.

Students from St. Columbanus School in Cortlandt Manor, NY had just come from my Weather/Science Assembly so they were super ready to help me with our long range weather pawcast for the NSTA conference.

One of my favorite pawcasts for the NSTA was on Pi Day at the conference with Elizabeth Kersting-Peterson, a very dedicated 1st grade teacher from the Homecroft Elementary School in Duluth, MN.  Ms KP never leaves home or her classroom without her Albert Einstein doll. I fondly call this pawcast “MC-Weird.” BOL!

From the Intrepid in NYC to the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, Meteorologist and I were there pawcasting the weather for the NSTA. Even David Evans, the director of NSTA, and Ms Carolyn Hayes, the incoming President joined me for pawcasts at the conference.

Helping me bring some sunshine to the big show is Top Dog/ NSTA Director & all around nice guy, David Evans.

I'm feeling the love from my new BFF's - teachers from the King Low Heywood School in Stamford, CT & Ms Carolyn Hayes, incoming top dog for NSTA. #Sigh!

Lots of teachers were even tweeting about me. #Blush. Here’s a few of my fave tweets:

Our 3 days at NSTA ended with a Pi Party! What? Yup, new teachers gathered for a Pi Party on Pi Day with Pizza Pi, I mean pie!  Sponsored by TX Instruments, Meteorologist Ron even wrote a song, “We love Pi” to the tune “Three Blind Mice.” Funny thing about humans.  The more beer and pizza they have, the more they want to sing.  Needless to say, a pawsome time was had by all.

For teachers or lovers of science, you need to go to an NSTA event.  We met so many nice humans from all over the country at NSTA who are now our BFF’s on social media and  want us to come visit their schools too. Can you say Duluth?  Arf-Arf!  We met Lauren Thompson, STEM coordinator from the DC Public Schools at NSTA and now we’re bringing my Schmitty the Weather Dog Weather Science Assembly to schools in her district the week of May 4th. How pawsome is that!

Before I go chase squirrels, I want to give a big four paws up to everyone at NSTA, especially social media guru, Lauren Jonas and Assistant Executive Director Extraordinaire, Jason Sheldrake.  The nicest humans who really worked hard to make the #NSTA2015 Rock/Bark!
