A Pawsome School Visit With My 300 New Friends!

Written By: Schmitty The Weather Dog | January 08, 2014

On the coldest day of the year and maybe forever here in NYC, I thought it would be the perfect time to blog about my pawsome visit to The Donald E. Schick Elementary School in Montoursville, PA.   Just before the holidays, author Elly McGuire, Meteorologist Ron Trotta and moi took a road trip from NYC to the Donald E. Schick School to do a Schmitty The Weather Dog: Daydream book reading & weather assembly for 300 students K-3 and their teachers.   A tail waggin’ good time was had by all.   But hey, don’t take my word for it – check out the fun pics below!

Here’s what Kindergarten Teacher, Mrs. Kim Hoffman had to say:

Schmitty the Weather Dog and her two-legged folks visited our school with a huge amount of energy and cuteness! Elly read her book with enthusiasm and animation that kept our kindergarten thru second grade audience entertained and wildly excited to meet the star of the book, Schmitty! Schmitty and Ron, the weather guy, made their entrance and tapped into our science curiosities with lots of interesting weather facts that were printed on wonderful souvenir cards for all of the children. They ended the presentation with the Schmitty the Weather Dog song, which is an upbeat tune with fun and easy lyrics so that everyone could sing along. The children talked about Schmitty’s visit for days afterward. The adorable little yorkie and her two-legged folks won our hearts!

Sigh!

That evening Team Schmitty The Weather Dog went to Williamsport, PA to do a pawsigning at Otto Bookstore, the oldest independent bookstore in the country. Otto Bookstore was celebrating their 172nd anniversary!  Wow! I wonder how old that would be in dog years?  Arf-Arf!

Oh yeah! One more thing.  Team Schmitty The Weather Dog had a tail wagging good time staying at the pet friendly, historic Genetti Hotel in Williamsport, PA.  Just saying.

Posing with top dog & GM, Marc Schefsky of the Genetti Hotel. Schefsky & Schmitty? Sounds like a law firm. Whatever that means.

Stay tuned for lots more fun weather assemblies.  Maybe we can visit your school sometime?  But right now I have to nap.  I’m exhausted.

Arf-Arf,

Schmitty The Weather Dog

PS. Just a big four paws up to my Schmitty The Weather Dog: Daydream illustrator, Simon Estrada.  He lives way across the country in Pasadena, CA so he can’t come and play with us.  But maybe when we come to the West Coast to do our science assemblies, he can join in the fun too!  Arf-Arf!
